Saying goodbye
On December 30, we lost one of the sweetest people I have ever known: my grandfather, Juan C. Gomez. We called him Tata. I am in San Antonio right now for the visitation and funeral. I was given the great honor of doing his eulogy, which I promptly googled, since I’ve never given one before.
This picture is from September 1968, back when he was on active duty in the U.S. Air Force.
I tried to prepare for his death, since he has been sick for a while now, but you can never actually be ready. I am quite devastated. Scattered. Can’t seem to focus on anything.
Tata was 86. 1 wife, 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. A full and beautiful life.
Thank you to all of my sweet friends who have sent their condolences. I love you guys.

Elise, i’m so glad you put this picture on your site. Tata looks so handsome here. He was a wonderful man and touched so many lives. He will always live on in our hearts.
